We can’t think of a better way to watch the sunset than with a cocktail in hand and some killer tunes playing in the background on the roof at Shoreditch House. We asked DJ and producer Nicola Robinson to give us her ultimate cocktail hour set list – the tracks she relies on for a foolproof evening session. Nicola is one half of DJ duo Retro Vacation with Kristy Harper and this pair of vinyl junkies are regulars on the decks at Shoreditch House, playing an eclectic mix of disco, afro-beat and electronica, all mixed up with forgotten classics and contemporary underground sounds.

Nicola says "The goal of my cocktail hour mix is to effortlessly shift the mood from day to night, by teasing between deeper seductive tones and zesty upbeat grooves, through a cherry-picked blend of funk, disco, nudisco and afro-beat tracks." She shared her ultimate summer evening playlist so you can recreate the Shoreditch House mood at home.

An evening session on the rooftop wouldn't be complete without a suitably summery cocktail in hand. Assistant Bars Manager at Shoreditch House Rob Vysnovsky shared his recipe for making Nicola's favourite for balmy summer nights: the Paloma.

The Paloma

Ingredients

50ml Blanco Tequila (Centenario Plata)
15ml Lime juice - juice from 1/2 lime
Top up with Grapefruit soda (Ting)

Recipe

1. Rim half of highball with salt.
2. Fill the glass with cube ice.
3. Pour all the ingredients into glass and give it gentle stir at the end.
4. Garnish with grapefruit wedge.

To make a salt rim, just wet half of top of glass with a lime wedge and place it into a saucer of rock salt so it sticks to the glass.
