The table is laid, the wine is poured and the turkey (or goose, or joint) is in the oven. We love Christmas dinner, but let's be honest, the best bits are the sides - crispy roast potatoes, honey-glazed parsnips and the ultimate festive snack, pigs in blankets. Delicious eaten hot, but just as good (or possibly better?) as leftovers, they're the perfect comfort food. Here's a quick, simple recipe for the best pigs in blankets you'll ever eat - given an extra festive flourish with the addition of roasted plums.

Streaky bacon

Wrap chipolatas in streaky bacon and hold the bacon in place with cocktail sticks.
Put in the oven at 180 for 20 mins.
Half way through cooking glaze with honey.
Leave in the oven for 20 minutes more (depending on the size of the sausages).
Serve with roasted plums for decoration.
