In summer 2015 we opened Soho Farmhouse - a 100-acre estate and members' club in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. Accommodation consists of 40 cabins in different sizes, a four-bedroom cottage and a seven-bedroom farmhouse, while the estate offers an outdoor pool, lakes, horseriding, crazy golf, cycling, tennis, boating, five-a-side football and ice skating in winter. There's also a Cowshed spa, a florist, several restaurants and bars and, of course, the Soho Home shop.

Designer Vicky Charles says of working on Soho Farmhouse: "With Farm we were really lucky in that the cabins are new builds – so we were able to change things up, do different styles, have more contemporary pieces, we weren't dealing with a historic building, it was a much freer brief. The landscape dictated the architecture of the cabins, but we were able to take it from there. The things that are the same [as Chicago] are the fact that it’s the ‘home from home’, we wanted to create that warm, lived-in feeling - we approach every design with that. Thinking about how you want to use it, how you want to sit in it, to create that home from home."

At Farmhouse the cabins and kitchens are filled with wonderfully tactile, stripy ceramics that were made a mere 20 minutes down the road at Oxfordshire’s famous Whichford pottery. This family business has been turning out beautiful, durable handmade garden pots and ceramics since the ‘70s and they’ve created a special collection of stoneware just for us.

Our Country House stoneware is hand-glazed in Portugal with a coloured reactive glaze which gives a semi-transparent finish with highs and lows in tone. These natural variations in colour and texture means each piece is unique, with a fluid, organic feel. The stoneware is fired at very high temperatures making it hard, dense and more durable than other types of pottery. It’s tough enough to withstand the heat in microwaves and ovens and the cold of refrigerators.

In natural tones and subtle woven textures, our cashmere, wool and organic cotton throws and blankets add an extra layer of cosiness to the cabins at Soho Farmhouse, and they're perfect for wrapping up in on the veranda when the sun goes down too.
