Our version of rural style honours the tradition of low-key elegance that the House's strong architecture demands, while also updating the notion of what an English country house can be. We first put a bath in Room 5 at Babington House and it's become something of a necessity for our members ever since. Comfort and warmth are also important; soft blankets are layered with big squishy cushions, and there are rugs under sofas and beds, inviting members to relax and unwind.

A curved, wooden bar with cushioned stools sits in front of a lit fireplace surrounded by seating. Warm lighting comes from elegant, vintage-style chandeliers, creating a cozy ambience.

Natural surfaces and painted wood are softened with more traditional fabrics like linen, cotton, hemp and velvet, as well as delicate prints across wallpaper. We use the Walled Garden and surrounding countryside as colour inspiration, so there are lots of greys, greens, buttermilk cream and sage hues.

Our mattresses are made in England by the family firm Hypnos, which holds the Royal Warrant

Our Walled Garden was the birthplace of Cowshed, the inspiration and testing ground for our beauty and spa products made from botanicals. Today, the Babington Cowshed spa looks out over the tranquil space where you can indulge in a range of natural therapies.
