The craft behind our rugs
Our design team take inspiration from various design movements, as well as the interiors of our Houses when it comes to pattern, colour and style.
A spin on craftsmanship
Our network of artisans work either at home or local loom sheds in rural India, continuing to honour traditions and supporting their local community. Here, yarn is spun and turned into threads on a traditional wheel, ready to be prepared for the loom.
In good hands
Threads are then hand-knotted, hand-weaved or hand-tufted, which determines the style, quality and durability of each design.
Transformed by the Indian sun
Our hand-knotted rugs are dried in the sun. This defines the final look and feel, and gives them a soft lustre. It also prevents shrinkage and shredding in the long run.
The finishing touches
If hand-tufted, artisans use a special tool to carve into the pile for definition, before cutting any loose ends. Fringing and binding the edges is also completed by hand for stability and longevity.
Responsible design
Thanks to direct contact with our skilled artisans, our rugs can be traced all the way back to the people who wove them. Reaching out to remote rural areas and establishing bonds with these artisans means they weave not only rugs but also their own lives.
Rug swatches
We know it's no easy task when buying a rug, so to help we have introduced new swatches to order from £10 on selected styles, allowing you to view the colour, pattern and style at home before you choose.
