House tip: a New Year’s Day Bloody Mary

Ease into the new year with this recipe from Soho House’s Beverage Director, Tom Kerr

At our Houses, we like to ring in the new year with a classic hangover feast and, of course, an extra spicy Bloody Mary. To help you ease into 2021, our Beverage Director Tom Kerr shares the secrets behind our House Bloody Mary, which is perfect for soaking up the night's excesses or kick-starting your New Year's Day. For those who are detoxing, this recipe can also be made alcohol-free by replacing the vodka with additional tomato juice.

Ingredients

2oz/ 50ml Amass Vodka | .70oz/ 20ml lemon juice | 1oz/ 25ml Worcestershire sauce | 4.2 oz/ 120ml tomato juice | ¼ tsp Tabasco | 2 turns ground black pepper | 1 pinch Maldon sea salt | Garnish | Celery stick | 2 olives | Lemon wedge

Method

1. Build the cocktail in a small cheater tin or standard cocktail shaker. If you're not in the mood for alcohol, replace the vodka with 2oz/ 50ml of tomato juice.

2. Add ice, and then throw the mix back and forth in a shaker or another cheater tin three times.

3. Strain into an ice-filled highball glass (we like to use the Balloon Highball or our classic cut-crystal Barwell Highball) and garnish with celery, olives, and a lemon wedge.
